John Arthur Halverson, age 77, of Fenton, MO, entered his eternal home on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Aventura Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, after a brief illness. He was born in Minneapolis on April 21, 1947, and grew up in Jackson, MN. He graduated from Augustana Academy, Canton, SD, in 1966, where he met the love of his life. John and Eunice were married in 1968 and lived in Minneapolis until they moved to St. Louis in 1976, where they raised their three children. He was a devoted husband and caring father who loved to encourage his children and grandchildren with the loudest cheers of pride and motivation in all of their endeavors. John spent most of his career in golf course management. His passions included spending time with friends and family, especially his two grandchildren. He loved all sports activities, including baseball, football, bowling and was a long-time St. Louis Cardinals season-ticket holder. John always had a long story or Norwegian joke to share. He was an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, having taught Sunday School and served on the Church Council and several committees.
John is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eunice (Aaland) Halverson, daughter Nicole (Sean) McManamon, son Nathan, grandchildren Connor and Molly McManamon and numerous relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Krista Halverson of Fenton MO (2023); brother Paul Halverson of Byron, MN (2024); and parents Dr. Palmer and Mary Halverson of Jackson, MN (2002 and 2024). John was deeply loved and will be missed by his family and friends. We give thanks to God for John.
