Joseph Angelo Caraccia

Joseph Caraccia, 80, of Delray Beach, FL, passed away surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Eileen (Moretti) Caraccia for 47 years and a beloved father to Deana Mills and her husband Brian of Greenville, RI, and Lori Caraccia and her wife Christina of Pembroke Pines, FL. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Juliana and Logan Mills, Christopher and Anthony McDonald, who were the center of his world. He is also survived by his twin sister Frances Sousa and her husband Theodore of Delray Beach, Fl .

Born in Providence, Rhode Island on May 23, 1944, to Arthur and Concetta (Mercurio) Caraccia, Joseph graduated from LaSalle Academy in 1962 and proudly served as a private in the United States Marine Corps. He worked as a waiter/manager at Twin Oaks Restaurant in Cranston for 32 years until his lung cancer diagnosis in 1997.

Joseph and Eileen were deeply involved with their Tropic Bay community in Delray Beach, FL, where he enjoyed fishing and boating. He served on the United States Power Squadron of Pompano Beach from 2009-2019, held the position of Commodore for the Tropic Bay Yacht Club in 2011 and 2012, and served on the Tropic Bay Board of Directors for many years.

Joseph was a man of immense kindness and generosity, who never knew the word "no" when it came to helping others. His friendships were deep and meaningful, and he had a remarkable ability to bring joy to those around him. He was always quick with a smile and offered unwavering support to his family and friends. His love for life, his family, and his friends was evident in everything he did. Known as a "walking miracle" due to the numerous health challenges he overcame, his resilience was truly inspiring. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

There will be a Memorial Mass for Joseph Caraccia on Friday, October 11, at 11:00 a.m. at Ascension Catholic Church. The address is 7250 N Federal Highway, Boca Raton, FL 33487.

Funeral arrangements in Rhode Island will be shared once they are finalized.
